Here we go again! Practice makes perfect (or at least passable)

Cousins made friends all over again with fingerpainting, dry erase table, swimming and fireworks.

We wanted the two boys and two girls on separate steps or in a row for a cute cousin photo. Kris suddenly decided he wasn't having pictures taken next to cousins. As the kids moved closer to him, he was ready to slide right off the porch step.

Grandma's swing with the girls on their last day here.

Thanks for these pics, Judy!

One of the Francom's last tasks while here in Heber is to educate Hunnygrams in the art of blogging. Alec thinks me quite computer illiterate while everyone else is a little more tactful and patient. We have had a very nice couple of weeks with visits from all the kids and grandkids. In all that time, I neglected to get a photo op with all (last chance for quite sometime).
This is a grand experience, so be patient with the aged!

NEWS FLASH!!!! LEHI area drivers.... Using Caution is mandatory! Natasha Harward has her learners permitt.

She did first visit the eye doctor and received glasses... Driving Blind is not prohibited by law! Mike has doubled his high blood pressure medicine and Elise quickly made an appointment with her Doc to see about sedatives.... Truely a day all parents look forward to!

Kayak n Pool 2

As 2Pac said: "Picture me Rollin." I succeeded in my first kayak roll today. It was in my little pool in the backyard. My 5th attempt ever, and my 6th time upside down in my kayak ended in me sitting straight up back where I started above water. The roll I used is called a C to C. My time spent with Christian on Sunday analyzing the roll videos on Youtube paid off. I am very excited, and elated that it finally happened. Unfortunately I have no video of my own. I will get it soon enough.

Things are as usual in our little Lehi. We wake up go to work. Then we come home and spend our time with the kids. Today I let Kris watch a movie while I catnapped next to him. Jarrett awoke from his nap to be upset that we were on the TV that he wanted to use to play Super Smash Brothers. After he got a few minutes of play time on the Wii we went out to swim. Before too long the boys were freezing. We attempted the little huddle that we do to keep warm. But Jarrett longed for his video game. He used that excuse that he was cold. He went to the sunny patch of lawn. He actually made it a few minutes laying there. Then I saw him B-line it to the house. He passed Judy without even a hello and went back to his games. Judy must have come home at some point while we were swimming. I saw her and Dan come about the same time headed for the pool. They came on in to the freezing cold pool. Dan is hilarious because the only time you ever hear him whine in a high pitched voice is when he is dealing with being cold from water. They did laps around the circle of the pool to get some exercise. I did some as well until my legs cramped up from the kicking. After Judy left we went for the Kayak. After I had done my 3 rolls, and 3 failures Dan gave it a whirl. He tried 2 roll with the paddle, then because he is Dan he wanted to attempt it without the paddle. The funny about being under the water in the kayak is you kinda get nervous and forget what you had planned. He did just that and instead of trying his roll he pulled the handle on the spray skirt and released. Cathy cooked us breakfast for dinner, and we all have now decided it is bed time.

I have been long winded, and hope I have not bored everyone. We might have to use this blog as a journal if we end up giving play by plays as I seem to. :P

Happy 24th!

We invaded the Hunnies house this holiday week. Greg and I slept in the front room, Judy, Dave and kids slept on the trampoline and Elise and kids stayed at Grandpa Day's house. Mindy and Ryan also came stayed during the day. The best part was that Dad was able to get the holiday off work and played with all the grandkids.
Dave is trying to salvage the sleeping bags after the boys jumped back in them following a dip in the pool.
Judy picked all the peas in the garden, cleaned out the fridge and then enjoyed relaxing outside.
The kids enjoyed playing with the sparklers
and....then there was the incident in the pool....

Kayak n Pool

I tried to roll my kayak today in our new pool. It was a total failure. Both times I kinda freaked out underwater. I did much better staying calm underwater in the river. Judy filmed it. Maybe I'll allow her to put it up on YouTube. But not likely kinda embarrassing. On the note of a pool....Yes we bought a 15 foot x 3.5 foot round pool. I think I hit my head on the bottom both times I went under. I was wearing my orange helmet so it didn't really hurt. My neck hurts a bit though. It was amazing how easy the kayak was in a still pool. The current in a river really messes with you. It doesn't help that on the Jordan you can't really tell there is a current. But in a whitewater kayak it is very obvious. Just not obvious where it is going. The interesting thing with them is that they are happy going down river. Our canoe you can zip up river no problem. So when I try and follow the canoe upstream you take about 10 paddles, and the kayak decides.... nope i'm not going upstream and turns itself around. This is a great thing when your in whitewater because where the current is going is where you want to be. Even in an eddy you are sitting facing up stream but you are going with the current. I guess what i'm learning is that even for practice it is better to be in the waters designed for the boat your in.

We took the new raft in the river on Friday night. I've decided that rafts need to go down river as well. It was funny watching Judy and Dan with the raft. They will get the hang of it with time. The boys took some serious coaxing to get out on the river with me, but they seemed to enjoy it after they realized the were fine. I hope they don't think every boat will flip after our Yuba swamping experience. The good thing is they are very still in the canoe on the river now.
