PLAY BALL!

January and February had us going Wasatch High School basketball games one or two nights a week.   Austin played on the junior varsity time most of the time, and once in a while on varsity.  Kirk and I went to the games if they were early, otherwise I went myself.  I didn't attempt the away games because of work and time.
One of the most enjoyable experiences was playing the Union High School team from Roosevelt where my Nielsen cousin's kids and grandkids play on every team -- varsity, jr. vars. sophomore, freshmen boys and girls as well as drill team and cheerleaders.    There were a dozen kids participating, and was fun to root for them as long as they weren't playing against Austin.  It was fun for Elise and I to visit with them.
I love that the "love" of family is just immediately there when we see them.

Austin just kept growing, and this year has measured in at 6'10".  He wears a size 18 shoe which looks gigantic -- but when he gets them on his feet, they kind of fit with his height.
This fall, 2012, he is playing on an invitational tournament team with teams from Salt Lake and Utah Valley.  I haven't attempted to go to these, but they have won their first two, and Austin had played well.
Most other nights he is working at Day's Market on the freight crew or as a bagger, watching basketball games on tv, or playing video games, so he stays plenty busy.  He keeps my front lawn looking great which I appreciate.

FAMILY BLOG REVISITED

Kids David and Judy hosted an awesome party in their backyard in Lehi.  Kirk's siblings and spouses were there for a barbecue -- the first non-obligatory (funeral, weddings) gathering we have had for a few years.  My sweet niece, Julie, accompanied her mother, Carolyn.  One of her questions for me was when was I going to begin posting on my blog again.  I told her I had kind of quit because I just got out of the habit and didn't really think anyone looked at it.  She told me she checks it regularly.
I thought about it awhile and as I looked at it, realized I really don't need to have anyone reading it necessarily -- but that it's a good way to document Hunsaker Happenings, even if I haven't figured out how to make cool formats or get my pictures in the right place.
As I looked back at the photos I finally uploaded from my camera I was amazed at the events that occurred in our family this year.  SO---- here we go, bits and pieces at a time.  Thank you Julie for the nudge!  And I'll get busy soon on my Genealogy Blog Hunny Days.

RYAN, MINDY, AND JUSTIN

EMILY, BRINLEE, GRANDMA HUNNY
January 2012 brought two exciting events -- Justin J.'s  baptism in Lehi one week in January.  We had a gathering afterwards at the Juchau home.  The girls seemed to coordinate their wardrobes, so we had the girls in red.

ELISE AND EMILY

The next Saturday, little Emily was baptized.  They had a
luncheon at the meetinghouse.  Emily bore a beautiful testimony at the baptism service!
