WILL YOU BE MINE?

Valentine's Day came quickly this year because I got a wicked cold the week before, and so didn't have as much time to prepare as fancy a dinner as we usually have.  But Kirk really helped me cook and the Harward kids and Christian and Xadrian came over so it was pretty festive.

Emily always makes an event exciting.  She is "Miss Enthusiasm".  Xadrian was most impressed with our little candy holder that usually sits in the entry hall filled with conversation hearts.  In fact, he figured out how to set up one of the toddler folding chairs and haul it around to wherever the candy was before I even knew what he was doing.

I was able to get enough rice-bag hearts made to send to all the grandkids.  Minis for the littles, larger ones for the older kids.  Useful as bean bags, hand warmers for coat pockets on cold winter days, comfies just to warm and hug like clothes right out of the clothes dryer, and - if you are Jacob- special "ear warmers" to sleep with when he has an earache.  (I guess anyone who drapes every pair of underwear on the bathroom radiator so there's always a warm pair to put on would think of the ear thing, huh?)

One of these days, the grandkids might not be overly impressed with the silly little gifts I love to make.  But I do love to find things to make for them when I can.  Pinterest definitely helps with resources, too.  Somehow my mom was always able to come up with fun, unique holiday things by scouring magazines like Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, etc.  So glad she did!

We love the bags mom. Sabrina warms hers up and walks to school with them. Jacob loves to put them on his ears :) Fun Fun. We had your traditional dinner at our house this year. Yummy!
